I have worn my hair in almost every way possible. Natural Coarse. Twists. Braids. Relaxed. Sewen-In. Glued-In. Wiggy Wiggy Down! Over my 27 years of life, I now have a grip on what is good for my natural hair and what I believe gives me the best look, physically and financially!
Here I’m giving you my 5 Favorite Protective Styles.
1.U Part Wigs

A u part wig (shown above)is constructed normally, only a U shape is cut out on top of unit. Allowing a more natural look with one’s own hair available for blending.

The motivation to installing extensions were my pockets! I was a college student with strict funds and had to find a way to get the look for less. I was also transitioning my hair from relaxed to natural, done a large chop, and was uncomfortable in public wearing. So I watched YouTube videos on how to make wigs.
2. Half Wigs

Half wig is a full wig that is worn behind the hairline, leaving hair out from ear to ear to blend, as shown above. Combs and adjustable straps are installed to secure the unit.
What I love about half wigs is the versatility! I can wear the unit down, half up half down, high bun and more!

Clip In Extensions are great to have if you’re just looking to add a bit of thickness and length to your look! I achieved the look above my sewing clip combs to tracked hair.
4.Braids
What I love about braids is the little to no maintenance. Just securing your hair down and oiling your scalp and your style can last from 2 weeks to 2 months, depending on the style installed.
