With the 60th Annual Grammy awards less then two months away, the talks of this years nominees is a new hot topic. Discovering this years nominees, I can say I am impressed by the selection of artist selected.

The independent label ,Top Dawg Entertainment also known as TDE, is running the show with 12 nominations. SZA is the most nominated female this year with five nominations including Best New Artist. Label mate Kendrick Lamar captures seven nominations. Kendrick's nominations include Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for his album DAMN, with his smash hit "Humble".

Surprise selections go to Daniel Caesar and PJ Morton. Though both are exceptional craftsman of music, the lack of mainstream radio play made one believe they may be ignored from such high acknowledgment.

Not so.

Daniel Caesar is nominated for two Grammy awards (Best R&B album, Best R&B Performance) for album ,Freudian, and hit single "Get You". PJ Morton is also nominated for two awards in the categories of Best R&B song and Best R&B album.

Most years I felt urban music, particularly indie/ alternative r&b music was ignored but last few years the doors seem to be opening more to the eclectic new age urban scene.

Selecting the best nominees of this years Grammy nominees in a dedicated playlist was a must.
